Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Science Technician to join a well-established secondary school in the Farnworth area of Bolton from September 2026.
The school is a welcoming and inclusive secondary school with a strong commitment to providing students with a high-quality education. The successful candidate will join a supportive Science Department and play an important role in ensuring lessons are well-prepared, safe and engaging for students.
The Role
As a Science Technician, you will work closely with teaching staff across the Science Department to prepare and organise practical lessons and experiments. You will be responsible for ensuring equipment and resources are available and ready for use, while maintaining a safe and well-organised working environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing equipment, materials and resources for practical Science lessons.
- Supporting teachers with the preparation and delivery of practical experiments.
- Maintaining and organising Science laboratories, equipment and resources.
- Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Monitoring and maintaining stock levels and ordering resources when required.
- Carrying out routine checks and basic maintenance of equipment.
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the Science Department.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working in a laboratory, school or similar environment, although candidates with relevant scientific or technical experience may also be considered.
You will need to be organised, reliable and confident working independently, while also being able to work effectively as part of a busy Science Department. A strong understanding of health and safety procedures is essential.
