Job description

Clinical Case Manager - Pre Travel Risk (9-month FTC)

Healix International
Are you an experienced Registered Nurse with strong clinical assessment skills and a passion for helping people stay safe whilst living and working overseas?

At Healix International, we're looking for a Clinical Case Manager - Pre Travel Risk to join our specialist team, providing expert clinical advice, risk assessment and medical planning for individuals travelling or relocating overseas.

This is an exciting opportunity to utilise your clinical expertise in a unique and rewarding environment, supporting global travellers, expatriates and international organisations by ensuring they are medically prepared for their overseas assignments.

This is a 9-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity leave cover. The salary will be paid on a pro rata basis relative to the advertised annual salary.

About the Role
As a Clinical Case Manager, you will undertake comprehensive pre-travel and pre-posting medical risk assessments, helping individuals understand and manage their health risks before travelling overseas.

Working collaboratively with our clinical, operational and occupational health teams, you will assess medical conditions against the healthcare capabilities of destinations worldwide, develop practical risk management plans and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations to clients and travellers.

You will play a vital role in ensuring safe travel and deployment decisions while delivering an exceptional service that combines clinical excellence with outstanding customer care.

About You
We're looking for a confident and proactive clinician who can balance sound clinical judgement with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

You'll be comfortable managing a varied caseload, making risk-based decisions and communicating complex information in a clear and compassionate way.

Essential Requirements

  • Current NMC registration.
  • Minimum of 2 years' recent clinical or relevant case management experience at Band 5 level or above.
  • Strong nursing assessment and triage experience.
  • Experience assessing, managing and mitigating clinical risk.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a high-volume workload.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and clinical case management systems.
  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable

  • Qualification or additional training in travel health.
  • Experience working within international healthcare, government, military or overseas environments.
  • Previous experience within medical assistance, insurance, repatriation or international case management services.
  • Knowledge of overseas healthcare systems and travel-related medical risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed pre-travel and pre-posting clinical assessments.
  • Evaluate medical risks associated with overseas locations and identify appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Provide expert travel health guidance, including vaccination and preventative health advice.
  • Develop practical medical management plans for individuals with pre-existing conditions.
  • Work closely with colleagues, clients, occupational health professionals and overseas healthcare providers to support informed decision-making.
  • Escalate complex cases to senior clinical colleagues and in-house medical specialists when appropriate.
  • Signpost travellers to suitable healthcare services and resources globally.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and document decisions clearly within case management systems.
  • Support service delivery targets and contribute to continuous improvement across the wider team.
  • Help with workload planning and collaborate with colleagues to effectively manage seasonal fluctuations in demand.
