A welcoming mainstream primary school in Watford is seeking a calm, committed, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant with hands-on experience in 1:1 support. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering tailored interventions, building strong, trusting relationships, and supporting pupils with additional needs to reach their full potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced SEN professionals who are passionate about inclusive education and confident working within a structured SEND provision.

For this position, prior SEN experience is essential, particularly supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis with a range of additional needs, including ASD.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant in Watford, you will provide both classroom-based and individual support, helping pupils remain engaged, regulate their emotions, and access learning in a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities SEN Teaching Assistant, Watford

Deliver consistent 1:1 and in-class support for pupils with ASD and additional needs. *

Implement tailored strategies to support learning, behaviour, and emotional regulation. *

Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt lesson materials and activities. *

Build strong, professional relationships that promote trust, stability, and engagement. *

Monitor and support pupils' academic progress and emotional wellbeing throughout the day.

The Ideal Candidate

Proven experience working in an SEN setting (essential). *

Strong background in providing 1:1 support for children or young people. *

Confident supporting pupils with ASD and a range of additional needs. *

Calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour and learning support. *

Excellent communication and teamwork skills. *

Reliable, adaptable, and committed to long-term support roles.
