Job description
Job summary
An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Breast Imaging Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, a dynamic and expanding service delivering both breast screening and symptomatic imaging across the region.

The Leeds Wakefield Breast Screening Service, based at Seacroft Hospital, provides high-quality breast screening for approximately 160,000 women aged 5073 years across Leeds, Wakefield and Pontefract, with activity expected to increase to around 180,000 women as part of ongoing service developments. The screening programme operates across a network of sites, including two mobile mammography units and four static locations:
  • Seacroft Hospital, Leeds
  • St Jamess University Hospital, Leeds
  • Trinity Walk, Wakefield
  • Wharfedale General Hospital, Otley
  • Retail Park J32, Glasshoughton

Due to the multi-site nature of the service, successful applicants will be expected to travel between locations and therefore should have access to suitable transport.

The Symptomatic Breast Imaging Service is based at St Jamess University Hospital, Leeds, where we provide a comprehensive one-stop service for patients referred with breast symptoms. Our busy service includes triple assessment clinics running throughout the week, alongside mammography follow-up for post-surgical and family history patients.

There may also be opportunities for successful candidates to undertake ultrasound training in the future.

Main duties of the job
Breast imaging is a rewarding and specialist area of radiography, offering excellent opportunities for professional development within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and adaptable radiographers who are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and maintaining high imaging standards. Strong communication skills, a patient-centred approach and a commitment to continuous learning are essential.

The service actively supports Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and encourages staff to develop their skills and expertise. While a mammography qualification would be advantageous, it is not essential, as postgraduate training and development opportunities are available for suitable candidates.

If you are passionate about delivering high-quality breast imaging services and would like to be part of a forward-thinking and supportive team, we would welcome your application.
