Not every teaching role is about exam results. Some are about helping a young person communicate their needs for the first time, developing life skills that build independence, or creating a learning environment where every child feels valued and understood.

Supply Desk is working with a specialist school in Burnham that is seeking an enthusiastic SEND Teacher to join their dedicated team. The school supports pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and a range of associated needs, delivering a highly personalised curriculum designed around each learner's strengths, interests, and aspirations.

What Can You Expect?

You'll teach small classes of pupils who benefit from specialist support, structured routines, and a that develop communication, confidence, independence, and functional life skills. personalised approach to learning. Working alongside experienced teaching assistants and therapists, you'll deliver engaging lessons

No two days are the same, making this a rewarding role for teachers who enjoy thinking creatively and adapting learning to suit every child.

The Successful Candidate Will:

✅ Deliver engaging and accessible lessons tailored to individual learning needs.

✅ Support pupils to develop communication, social interaction, and independence skills.

✅ Create learning opportunities through sensory activities, practical experiences, and real-world contexts.

✅ Contribute to EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.

✅ Build positive relationships with pupils, families, carers, and external professionals.

✅ Work collaboratively with support staff to ensure every pupil receives the highest level of support.

✅ Monitor and celebrate progress through meaningful assessment and observation.

✅ Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

We'd Love to Hear from You If You Have:

  • Experience working with pupils with SLD, complex learning needs, ASD, or PMLD.
  • QTS or significant experience within SEND education.
  • A genuine passion for inclusive teaching and personalised learning.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • The ability to adapt lessons and resources creatively to meet a wide range of needs.

Extra Skills That Would Be Advantageous

  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, AAC, or alternative communication systems.
  • Experience within a specialist school or SEND provision.
  • Understanding of sensory-based learning approaches.
  • Experience supporting pupils with EHCPs.
  • Team Teach or Positive Behaviour Support training.
