Job description

Do you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges through advanced simulation and structural analysis?

Are you passionate about applying Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to improve product performance, ensure structural integrity, and support the development of innovative energy technologies?

Join a team that delivers innovative engineering solutions

Our Well Systems team develops industry-leading technologies that enable safe, reliable, and efficient operations across the energy sector. Through advanced engineering analysis and simulation, we help design and qualify products capable of operating in some of the world's most demanding environments.

Partner with the best

As a Lead FEA Engineer – Structural Analysis, you will be responsible for performing structural assessments and simulation activities to support product development, qualification, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Testing, and Project teams to deliver engineering solutions that meet performance, reliability, and compliance requirements.

As a Lead FEA Engineer – Structural Analysis, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing FEA Models: Creating, validating, and executing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models using ANSYS Mechanical, Thermal, and associated ANSYS applications.

  • Performing Structural Assessments: Conducting linear static, nonlinear (elastic-plastic), fatigue, dynamic, modal, and thermal-structural coupled analyses to evaluate product performance and structural integrity.

  • Providing Engineering Recommendations: Interpreting simulation results and recommending design improvements to optimize performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.

  • Supporting Product Development: Collaborating with Design, Manufacturing, Testing, and Project Engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

  • Preparing Technical Documentation: Developing detailed engineering reports, analysis summaries, calculations, and design recommendations.

  • Supporting Design Reviews: Providing technical guidance on structural integrity, material behavior, fatigue performance, failure modes, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Driving Engineering Excellence: Developing and maintaining simulation methodologies, modeling standards, best practices, and analysis procedures.

  • Ensuring Compliance: Performing analyses in accordance with customer requirements, industry regulations, engineering standards, and internal design processes.

  • Supporting Failure Investigations: Participating in root cause investigations and engineering assessments to identify and prevent product failures.

  • Driving Continuous Improvement: Supporting initiatives that improve simulation capability, engineering efficiency, product quality, and organizational effectiveness.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Have significant experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and structural engineering.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with ANSYS Mechanical and ANSYS Thermal for structural analysis applications.

  • Have a strong understanding of:

    Strength of Materials

    Structural Mechanics

    Elasticity and Plasticity

    Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics

    Material Behaviour and Failure Modes

  • Have experience developing high-quality finite element models, including meshing techniques, validation methods, and convergence studies.

  • Be able to interpret complex simulation results and communicate findings effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Have experience preparing technical documentation, engineering calculations, and analysis reports.

  • Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

  • Have experience assessing complex assemblies subjected to static, dynamic, thermal, and fatigue loading conditions.

  • Be able to balance engineering accuracy, project schedules, and business objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have a Master's degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering.

  • Have experience with scripting and automation tools such as Python, APDL, ACT, or MATLAB.

  • Have experience conducting design optimization and parametric studies.

  • Have familiarity with CAD and simulation tools including ANSYS Discovery, SpaceClaim, and Creo.

  • Have experience working within regulated industries such as Oil & Gas, Energy, Aerospace, Defence, Automotive, or Heavy Equipment.

  • Hold Chartered Engineer status (IMechE) or equivalent professional accreditation (preferred).

Have knowledge of industry standards including:

  • ASME BPVC Section VIII

  • ASME B31.3 / B31.8 Process Piping Codes

  • API 6A and API 17D

  • DNV Standards and Recommended Practices (F112, N001, E273, C203)
