This is a senior consultancy position offering a strong mix of technical oversight, site involvement, and team development. You will play a key role in shaping engineering outputs, supporting early-stage design, and acting as a trusted point of contact for both clients and internal teams.
You will be working across a varied project portfolio, balancing hands-on engineering with mentoring and commercial input.
In this role, you will:
Attend site visits independently and provide clear, practical engineering advice
Review and check structural calculations, drawings, and design information
Support and mentor junior engineers through day-to-day guidance and development
Ensure all technical outputs are accurate, compliant, and delivered on time
Identify and challenge unsafe or impractical design solutions
Monitor design risk and promote safe, buildable engineering practices
Support fee proposals, client discussions, and business development activity
Maintain well-organised project records and documentation
Contribute to early-stage scheme design alongside the wider team
Ensure consistent use of appropriate software, standards, and processes
To be considered, you will need:
Strong experience within structural engineering at senior level
Confidence operating in a client-facing role and attending site independently
Proven experience checking calculations and engineering deliverables
The ability to mentor and support junior engineers
Good commercial awareness, including involvement in fee preparation
A strong understanding of site safety and practical construction considerations
Excellent organisation, communication, and attention to detail
A proactive approach to professional networking and business development
