A well-established and busy secondary school in Slough is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join its site team on an immediate basis. This is a key role within the school’s support structure and is central to ensuring that the premises remain safe, secure, clean, and fully operational for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Opening and closing the school site, ensuring full security procedures are followed
Carrying out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general DIY tasks
Conducting regular health & safety checks, including fire alarm testing and emergency lighting inspections
Maintaining accurate maintenance logs and compliance documentation
Supporting external contractors while they are on site and monitoring works
Assisting with room setup for events, examinations, and lettings
Ensuring outdoor areas are safe, tidy, and well presented
Responding promptly to site-related issues and resolving them efficiently
Previous experience in a caretaker, site assistant, or maintenance role
Strong practical skills and the ability to carry out basic repairs independently
A sound understanding of health & safety procedures
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
A proactive and dependable approach to work
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
