We are seeking a caring, dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child in Reception at a welcoming primary school in Selly Oak, Birmingham.

\n

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to provide tailored support, helping the child access learning, develop social skills and achieve their full potential within the classroom environment.

\n

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and making a positive difference in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities

    \n
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child in Reception.
  • \n
  • Assist with the delivery of personalised learning activities and interventions.
  • \n
  • Support the child's emotional, social and educational development.
  • \n
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • \n
  • Monitor and record progress, sharing observations with the class teacher and SENCO.
  • \n
  • Build positive relationships with the child, staff and parents/carers.
  • \n
  • Ensure the child's wellbeing and safety at all times.
  • \n

We are looking for someone who:

\n
    \n
  • Has experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
  • \n
  • Has experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally within EYFS.
  • \n
  • Is patient, nurturing and able to build strong relationships.
  • \n
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • \n
  • Can remain calm, adaptable and positive in a busy classroom environment.
  • \n
  • Is committed to inclusion and helping every child succeed.
  • \n
  • Has relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3).
  • \n
  • Experience supporting children with autism, communication needs, or social and emotional needs.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of EYFS curriculum and child development.
  • \n
