About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing UK business with an established portfolio of innovative brands operating across the electrical, technology and consumer sectors. With innovation at the heart of everything they do, the business designs, manufactures and distributes market-leading products that make everyday life smarter, safer and more sustainable.

Backed by ambitious growth plans, significant investment and a collaborative culture, the organisation is continuing to expand its technical team to support increasing demand across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to join a business where you'll play a key role in supporting the next generation of EV charging products whilst helping deliver an exceptional customer experience.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to join a growing technical team, providing expert support across product testing, diagnostics, technical escalations and field-based support.

Working closely with the Technical Director, you'll act as the technical expert for the business, supporting both internal teams and external customers whilst helping improve product performance and reliability. This is a varied role combining office-based technical support with occasional site visits, giving you the opportunity to work across the full product lifecycle from installation through to testing and continuous improvement.

This position would suit someone with previous experience within EV charging, electrical products, electrical installation or technical support who enjoys problem-solving, working with customers and improving products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to internal Technical and Customer Service teams.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex technical queries and fault finding.
  • Attend customer and partner sites to support installations, commissioning and technical investigations.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults across installed charging equipment.
  • Test new EV charging hardware, software and firmware prior to product release.
  • Analyse returned products and identify root causes of failures.
  • Identify recurring product issues and work with the wider team to improve product quality and reliability.
  • Deliver remote technical support via telephone, email and video calls.
  • Support installers with pre-installation technical guidance.
  • Assist with technical documentation, testing procedures and product knowledge materials.
  • Work closely with engineering, product and customer service teams to improve the overall customer experience.

About You

You'll be a technically minded individual who enjoys solving problems and delivering outstanding customer support. You'll be confident working independently whilst also collaborating closely with colleagues across multiple departments.

You'll ideally have experience within one or more of the following:

  • Electrical Products
  • Renewable Energy
  • Electronics
  • Power Distribution

You'll also have:

  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience supporting electrical or electronic products.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A customer-focused approach with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience within the EV charging industry.
  • 18th Edition Electrical Regulations.
  • City & Guilds electrical qualifications.
  • EV charging qualifications.
  • Experience testing hardware and firmware.
  • Experience working directly with installers or field engineers.

Package

  • Salary up to £50,000 (dependent on experience)
  • 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays
  • Additional day's annual leave for every completed year of service (up to 25 days)
  • Company pension
  • Relocation support available (up to £3,000) for the right candidate
  • Ongoing technical training and professional development
  • Genuine long-term career progression within a rapidly growing organisation

Working Pattern

  • Office-based in Greater Manchester (4/5 days)
  • Monday to Friday
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Occasional travel to customer and partner sites across the UK
  • Reporting directly to the Technical Director

Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK's fastest-growing businesses within the electric vehicle charging sector. You'll become a key member of a growing technical team, working with innovative products that are helping accelerate the UK's transition to electric vehicles.

You'll have the opportunity to influence product quality, support new product development, work closely with customers and installers, and play a vital role in ensuring the business continues to deliver industry-leading products and customer service. As the business continues to grow, genuine opportunities for progression and personal development will be available for ambitious individuals looking to build a long-term career.
