Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

Are you a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Practitioner looking to make a lasting difference in the wellbeing of young people?

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently searching for a Mental Health Practitioner to work within a supportive and inclusive secondary school in North Yorkshire. We are looking for a dedicated, empathetic, and resilient professional who is passionate about promoting positive mental health, supporting students with emotional wellbeing needs, and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

Mental Health Practitioner Role:

The successful Mental Health Practitioner will provide targeted emotional and wellbeing support to students experiencing a range of mental health and emotional challenges. We are looking to recruit a Mental Health Practitioner who can work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams to develop effective support strategies, promote resilience, and create a safe and nurturing environment where students can thrive.

Mental Health Practitioner Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group wellbeing support for students experiencing mental health and emotional challenges
  • Identify barriers to learning and implement appropriate strategies to promote engagement and resilience
  • Work closely with pastoral teams, teachers, and families to develop and review individual support plans
  • Promote positive mental health, emotional wellbeing, and healthy coping strategies throughout the school community
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and escalate safeguarding concerns where appropriate
  • Liaise with external agencies and specialist services to ensure students receive appropriate support when required

Mental Health Practitioner Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in mental health, counselling, psychology, youth work, or a related support role
  • Knowledge of adolescent mental health, trauma-informed practice, and emotional wellbeing strategies
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • A calm, compassionate, and resilient approach to supporting young people with complex needs
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and child protection procedures
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
