Job description
  • Hours : 7.5 hours, inclusive of a 30 minute unpaid break - Thursdays * Base : Kenburgh House, 28 Manor Row, Bradford, BD1 4QU * Groups : We anticipate that this role will involve facilitating the following groups : o ‘Your Voice’ Urdu / Punjabi Peer Group o Men’s Wellbeing Group o Walk & Talk Group (Lister Park) Role Background Our Wellbeing Team supports adults across Bradford District & Craven through a range of group sessions and activities. From creative activities to structured support programmes, we support people to take care of their emotional and mental wellbeing. Role Purpose We’re looking for a committed, proactive and enthusiastic person to co-facilitate three of our Thursday Wellbeing groups. Our ‘Your Voice’ Wellbeing Group, for Urdu & Punjabi speakers, is a weekly peer support group for adults to speak to others in their own language. The group allows a place for connection and support. Our ‘Men’s Wellbeing’ group is a supportive space for men to talk openly about mental health, challenge social stigmas, and connect with others. Our ‘Walk & Talk’ group is a casual, social opportunity to speak to peers and boost wellbeing through a gentle walk in a local park. As a practitioner, you will work with colleagues to co-facilitate these peer support groups, complete relevant admin tasks and support the wellbeing team with its objectives. Experience * Experience supporting adults within a mental health, social care or other relevant setting * Experience in managing challenging situations, and recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns * Experience of using an electronic recording system for service member details * Experience facilitating group settings and managing group dynamics * Experience planning and delivering sessions and activities focused around wellbeing Skills and Abilities o Excellent proven communication and organisational skills, including an ability to encourage and engage people in ways to make positive changes in their lives o Ability to uphold professional boundaries at all times o Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues across the service o Ability to use initiative and be proactive o Ability to complete relevant administrative tasks, such as group bookings, case studies, case notes and incident forms o Excellent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Packages o Ability to develop new resources for Wellbeing Sessions Knowledge o Understanding of the key issues within mental health, and the potential challenges that people may face o Knowledge of risk management and health and safety issues o Understanding of safeguarding and good practice o Understanding of confidentiality and data protection o Awareness and knowledge of Severe Mental Illness (SMI) o Knowledge of other relevant health & social care organisations across the Bradford District & Craven Attitude and Personal Attributes o Ability to comfortably walk at a gentle pace around a local part for a period of 90 minutes o Committed to supporting people in a person-centred and non-judgemental way o Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion o A positive, professional and passionate attitude o Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changes o Willingness to attend team meetings, gather client feedback and contribute towards case studies o A commitment to BDC Mind’s Values Qualifications o Evidence of ongoing professional development J-18808-Ljbffr
