Job description
Financial Accountant At a Glance Full Time, Permanent Hybrid £45 - £50K About the Company Our client is a well-established, multi-divisional organisation with a strong reputation in its sector and a genuinely growing finance function. They have a track record of developing accountants from their first industry move right through to senior finance positions, and offer a level of support and structure that's hard to find in a first industry role. The Role This is a rare opportunity for a newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) to step into a broad, hands-on finance role with real responsibility from day one. Rather than being confined to a narrow reporting function, you'll manage the accounting function for one of the organisation's divisions and supervise a small finance team, giving you exposure and ownership well beyond what most first industry roles offer. Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly management accounts Produce trial balances and complete balance sheet reconciliations Support the year-end audit process, budgeting and forecasting Oversee payroll, ledgers and transactional processes Supervise and support a small finance team Maintain and strengthen financial controls across the division Liaise with senior finance stakeholders on reporting and process improvements What You'll Need Essential: Newly or part qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA Strong trial balance and reconciliation experience Excellent Excel and financial systems skills Highly organised with strong attention to detail Desirable: Prior exposure to supervising or supporting junior team members Experience working within a multi-divisional or group finance structure Why Apply Genuine breadth from day one: this role covers financial controls, month-end, audit, payroll and team supervision, rather than a single narrow function, giving you a much stronger grounding than most first industry roles Real people management experience early in your career, supervising a small team rather than waiting years for that opportunity elsewhere A clear, structured route for career development within a multi-divisional organisation, with genuine scope to progress as the finance function grows A supportive, collaborative team environment where you'll be backed rather than left to sink or swim in a new industry role For more information on this role, or any other Accountancy and Finance position, please contact Gemma Murphy.
