My client is seeking an experienced Cost Clerk to join their law firm in Ashford, Surrey on a part-time basis (21 hours per week). This is an excellent opportunity for someone with Legal Aid costing experience to play a key role in preparing and managing Legal Aid claims, working closely with fee earners and external Costs Draftsmen to ensure claims are submitted accurately and efficiently. The Role You will be responsible for supporting the firm's Legal Aid costing function, including: • Liaising with external Costs Draftsmen to prepare and finalise bills of costs • Reviewing draft bills for accuracy and compliance before submission • Working closely with fee earners to ensure files are complete and time records are accurate • Checking bills of costs and Claim1 forms to ensure all disbursements have been included • Managing amendments, queries and correspondence relating to costs claims • Maintaining accurate records of submitted claims, payments and outstanding matters • Ensuring all documentation is managed in accordance with firm procedures and GDPR requirements • Assisting with the efficient progression of Legal Aid cost recovery Requirements • Previous experience in a Cost Clerk or Legal Aid costing role is essential • Strong knowledge of Legal Aid Agency procedures, including CCMS and Claim1 forms • Experience working with external Costs Draftsmen • Ex...
