Job description

Project Professionals Development Programme - Production Control

Vulcain Engineering UK’s 18-month Development Programme offers an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Production Controller at Hinkley Point C, working on-site five days a week. Consultants are embedded within the Mechanical, Electrical & HVAC alliance, where you will support the planning, coordination and delivery of critical construction activities. Working closely with construction teams to monitor progress, track key milestones, review schedules, identify risks and issues, and help drive corrective actions to ensure project objectives are achieved safely.

The programme combines hands-on experience with structured training and mentorship to develop key technical and professional skills. You will gain exposure to stakeholder management, project controls, reporting, and construction delivery, while working towards industry-recognised qualifications.

As part of one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of major project delivery and build a strong foundation for a successful career in the nuclear sector. Upon completion, the programme provides a clear pathway to future roles within Vulcain, including Project Management, Construction Management, Project Controls, Planning and more.

About Vulcain Engineering

Vulcain Engineering, an international engineering consultancy, supports global industrial leaders in their transition to a more responsible and sustainable future. In the UK, we have a key focus in the Nuclear sector, contributing to groundbreaking projects, such as Hinkley Point C (HPC).

This position requires attendance on-site at Hinkley Point C (HPC), working a five-day week, with weekend working as required.

Your journey

Your development journey will be adapted to your individual interests and needs to support, challenge and inspire you; you can expect:

  • An induction programme including your welcome to Vulcain, nuclear fundamentals, safety and key insights from industry leaders.
  • A structured 18-month development plan tailored to your growth and need.
  • Working on site at Hinkley Point C, gaining hands-on experience.
  • Our UK-SPEC aligned training programme empowering you to grow into a well-rounded professional, developing technical expertise and transferrable skills.
  • Support towards achieving Chartered status.

About you

You must have previous experience in one of the following environments: technical or construction projects, engineering, military, highly regulated, site-based disciplines, or similar.

You should thrive in a varied, dynamic, collaborative environment and you must demonstrate:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to question the status quo and continuously challenge existing ways of working.
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Accountability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and use data effectively.
  • Flexibility and willingness to explore different opportunities and challenges.
  • Cultural awareness and the ability to work effectively within multinational teams.
  • Utilising Project software tools - P6 outputs, Excel databases/spreadsheets, Power BI, SharePoint, CEMAR, & Mpower.
  • Reside locally to Bridgwater or be prepared to relocate, as this role is based on-site at HPC Full-time and does not include travel expense coverage.

Please note many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK.

Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary tailored to your experience and background. Whether you're earlier in your career or bring more senior-level expertise, we encourage you to apply if this role aligns with your skills, or if you're open to discussing other opportunities within this discipline.
