About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Fire Safety Manager to lead the delivery of fire safety compliance across a diverse residential property portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fire safety professional to play a key role in ensuring statutory compliance, protecting residents, and driving continuous improvement within a customer-focused organisation.

Reporting to the Head of Fire & Building Safety, you will lead a small specialist team and work closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external partners to deliver a proactive and effective fire safety service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of fire safety compliance across a residential property portfolio.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve fire safety strategies, policies, procedures, and management plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant fire safety legislation, building regulations, and industry guidance.
  • Manage and oversee fire risk assessment programmes, ensuring identified actions are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Monitor the performance of contractors responsible for fire safety works, inspections, servicing, and remedial actions.
  • Oversee the maintenance and testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting, fire doors, suppression systems, and other life safety equipment.
  • Develop and coordinate emergency evacuation arrangements and promote fire safety awareness across the organisation.
  • Investigate fire-related incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimise future risk.
  • Use performance data and compliance reporting to monitor delivery, identify trends, and support informed decision-making.
  • Manage budgets, procurement activities, and contract performance to ensure value for money.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team while promoting a positive safety culture.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams and senior stakeholders to embed fire safety into day-to-day property management activities.
  • Prepare reports and provide professional advice to senior leadership on compliance, performance, and risk.

About You

We're looking for a proactive and knowledgeable professional who can demonstrate:

  • Significant experience managing fire safety compliance within residential property, housing, property services, construction, or a similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of current fire safety legislation, regulatory requirements, and best practice.
  • Experience managing fire risk assessment programmes and compliance-related projects.
  • Proven experience managing contractors and service providers to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and reporting abilities, with confidence using compliance and performance data.
  • Sound financial awareness, including budget and contract management.
  • A collaborative, customer-focused approach with excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high standards of compliance.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Degree, Level 6 qualification, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Relevant qualification in property, construction, building safety, fire safety, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in fire safety management and compliance.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.

Desirable:

  • Fire safety or fire engineering qualifications.
  • Project Management qualification.
  • Management qualification.
  • NEBOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.

What You'll Bring

This role would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership, influencing positive change, and leading compliance programmes that make a real difference. You'll be passionate about maintaining high safety standards, using data to drive decisions, and delivering excellent outcomes for residents and stakeholders alike.

If you're looking for an opportunity to shape and improve fire safety performance within a forward-thinking organisation, or know someone who is, we'd love to hear from you.
