Job description
A well-regarded secondary school in Liverpool is seeking an experienced and highly organised School Business Manager (SBM) to lead key business functions and support the smooth, compliant running of the school. This is a senior operational role for someone who enjoys responsibility, strong systems and making a meaningful impact behind the scenes. The school has clear routines, a professional working culture and strong safeguarding practice. The business function is valued as essential to supporting teaching and learning. About the Role As School Business Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across finance, premises and wider school operations. Responsibilities typically include: Budgeting, forecasting, monitoring spend and reporting Procurement and contract management to ensure value for money Overseeing office systems and operational efficiency Supporting HR administration processes and staffing structures Managing premises, health & safety and compliance Ensuring policies, procedures and records are up to date and audit-ready Line managing support staff and maintaining high service standards Key Information Location: Liverpool Start Date: ASAP / next term (or by agreement) Contract: Full-time, permanent (or as agreed) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience What the School is Looking For Proven experience in school business management or senior finance/operations leadership Strong knowledge of budgeting, procurement, compliance and operational planning Excellent organisation and communication skills Confidence line-managing staff and developing clear routines Strong understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional standards Right to work in the UK How to Apply If you are a high-quality School Business Manager who wants a senior operational role in a well-run Liverpool secondary school, we welcome your application.
