Location: Portsmouth, PO3; Pay: £13.49 per hour; Hours: 4 on 4 off (covering days, nights and weekends). As a Security Officer, you’ll take on meaningful responsibility, respond to new challenges daily, and play a vital role in keeping people, property, and progress secure. Job Description What you will be doing: You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes: * Access Control: Prevent and deter unauthorised access to the site * Security Monitoring: Monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms, and CCTV * Patrolling: Conduct external and internal security patrols * Record‑Keeping: Maintain logbooks and records, ensuring timely paperwork and effective handovers * Health & Safety: Record and report faults, hazards, and unsafe working practices to management * Energy Conservation: Switch off unnecessary lights and close windows during patrols * Customer Service: Deliver an outstanding level of customer service * Professionalism: Maintain the highest standard of personal presentation to uphold the image of Securitas and the client * Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving security practices and processes Please note — the responsibilities listed here aren’t the full picture, but they give you a good sense of the role. Qualifications What we’re looking for: We’re looking for someone who sees a different world—someone who values teamwork, shows initiative, and wants to grow. Ideally, you’ll have: * Valid SIA Licence * CCTV Licence (desirable, training available) * Strong interpersonal skills * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Must have the legal right to work in the UK with a 5-year checkable history * Able to work days, nights, and weekends * Self-motivated with a keen eye for detail Due to the nature of this opportunity, candidates must be able to achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) Clearance.
