Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant

Location: Hazlemere

Salary: MPS / UPS

Contract: Full-time

Start Date: September 2026

Are you a passionate and dedicated Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking an enthusiastic Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you'll play a key role in supporting pupils with autism and additional needs to achieve their full academic, social, and personal potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with autism and additional needs.

• Support pupils to access the curriculum through personalised strategies, resources, and interventions.

• A good understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN), with specific knowledge and experience supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

• Create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment that promotes confidence, independence, and positive engagement.

• Develop positive and trusting relationships with pupils, supporting their communication, social interaction, emotional wellbeing, and personal development.

• Use appropriate strategies to support pupils with communication, sensory, emotional, and behavioural needs.

• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals to support individual pupil development and progress.

• Promote positive behaviour and support pupils in developing their independence and life skills.

• Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.

Requirements

• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals to support individual pupil development and progress.

• Monitor and record pupils' progress, contributing to individual support plans and providing feedback to the wider school team.

• Promote positive behaviour and support pupils in developing their independence and life skills.

• Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
