Job description
Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale The Role A progressive Secondary Academy in Bristol is seeking a professional, creative, and highly organized Art & Design Teacher to join their visual arts team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a culturally vibrant school that values fine art, printmaking, digital media, and critical contextual research as crucial pillars of creative expression. The successful candidate will deliver a dynamic curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. The timetable focuses on drawing foundations, color theory, and sculptural techniques at Key Stage 3, moving to advanced thematic portfolios, mixed-media composition, and critical art history evaluation for GCSE and A-Level cohorts. You will also manage studio material stocks, coordinate the design of the school's digital exhibition portfolio, and organize local gallery excursions and end-of-year exhibitions. You will support students in developing their unique artistic voices while keeping detailed, systematic progress records. Excellent time management is required to balance hands-on studio guidance with the rigorous coursework moderation cycle. The art studios are bright, spacious, and equipped with a wide variety of traditional and digital media tools. Requirements A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) with a degree in Fine Art, Graphic Design, or a related creative field Proven experience teaching Art & Design up to GCSE and A-Level specifications Strong data literacy, with confidence using digital learning tracking systems to monitor student progress Excellent studio management skills, prioritizing cleanliness, physical safety, and organization Ability to work effectively and adaptably as part of a busy creative team Application To apply, please send your comprehensive CV as soon as possible.
