Job summary
Vertis Health is seeking an experienced and compassionate Clinical Psychologist to join our Adult ASD service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within a multidisciplinary diagnostic pathway, delivering high-quality autism assessments for adults aged 16 years and over. You will use your advanced clinical skills to undertake comprehensive assessments, contribute to multidisciplinary diagnostic decision-making, produce high-quality reports, and support individuals through the diagnostic process in a neurodiversity-affirming and person-centred manner.

Main duties of the job
  • Deliver comprehensive autism assessments in line with NICE CG142, DSM-5 and ICD-11 diagnostic criteria.
  • Conduct detailed clinical interviews, developmental history assessments, psychological formulation, and differential diagnostic evaluations.
  • Utilise validated assessment tools including ADOS-2, ADI-R, AAA, ASDI or equivalent, where trained and competent to do so.
  • Contribute expert psychological knowledge to multidisciplinary team discussions and diagnostic decision-making.
  • Produce clear, high-quality diagnostic reports and communicate outcomes sensitively to service users and carers.
  • Develop personalised support plans and provide recommendations for reasonable adjustments across health, education, employment and community settings.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with safeguarding, governance, information governance and professional standards.

About us
Vertis Health is a federation of general practices delivering high-quality NHS services across Worcestershire. We were founded by local primary care clinicians and are owned by the practices we serve. As a purpose-led limited company, the money we generate is reinvested into the local healthcare economy, helping to strengthen services, support innovation and improve patient care. Our neurodevelopmental services are being built around clinical quality, meaningful outcomes and strong governance. You will join an organisation that understands NHS systems and values while giving experienced clinicians the opportunity to influence, develop and improve services. Depending on the role, our benefits include access to the NHS Pension, structured learning and development, clinical leadership opportunities, career progression and genuine flexibility. If you want to help build a clinically rigorous, compassionate and sustainable service, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Job responsibilities
  • Undertake specialist Adult ASD assessments.
  • Gather and integrate information from multiple sources including self-report questionnaires, informant accounts and relevant historical records.
  • Assess co-occurring neurodevelopmental, mental health, physical health and safeguarding concerns.
  • Participate in MDT meetings, peer review, clinical supervision and reflective practice.
  • Support pathway development, audit activity and service improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with operational colleagues to support efficient service delivery and excellent patient experience.
  • Provide signposting and recommendations for appropriate local and national support services.
  • Ensure all work is delivered in accordance with professional, clinical and governance requirements.
