SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School

Salford
Start Date: September
Full-Time Position

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be working alongside a supportive and inclusive primary school in Salford that is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs, particularly those with speech and language difficulties. You will play a vital role in helping pupils develop their communication skills, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with speech and language needs
  • Work closely with the SENCo, class teachers, and external professionals to deliver tailored interventions
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and engaging fully in classroom activities
  • Help create a nurturing, inclusive, and positive learning environment
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Promote pupils’ independence, communication skills, and overall wellbeing

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience supporting children with speech and language needs (essential)
  • Is patient, caring, and committed to supporting pupils to reach their full potential
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external professionals
  • Possesses strong communication and organisational skills
  • Holds relevant SEN qualifications or training (desirable)
  • Demonstrates initiative and a proactive approach to supporting learning

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
