Job description

Role: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Across Merseyside

Salary: £90-£95 per day(depending on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

Connex Education is seeking enthusiastic and adaptable special education needs Teaching Assistants to join our agency for the new term, we work across the Merseyside area. We are working in partnership with fantastic local SEN primary and secondary schools looking for support staff to join their dedicated teams across Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2), Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4)

You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff and have access to ongoing professional development through Connex Education.

Assignment Details

  • Positions available on a full-time or part-time basis, starting in ASAP, in the new term.
  • Flexibility to choose your working days, 1 - 5 days a week.
  • Roles are initially temporary, with the potential for permanent placement.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • A Level 2/3 teaching assistant qualification is desirable; however, those with relevant school experience will also be considered.
  • GCSE English & Maths (Grade C/4 or above for both) or equivalent Level 2.
  • Current DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for a new one through Connex.

  • Adapts to pupils’ varying needs and supports inclusion.
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and consistency when supporting pupils of varying needs and abilities.
  • Reliable, well-presented, and committed to confidentiality and ongoing development.
  • Sound understanding of classroom roles, routines, and expectations, and how to contribute effectively to these.
  • Observant and reflective, able to recognise and respond to changes in behaviour or wellbeing.
  • Awareness of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries in a school setting.
  • Committed to continuous personal development and open to feedback and training.
