Job summary
At Radford Medical Practice general practice is about more than appointments. Its about relationships, teamwork and making a difference to the community you serve.

we are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate GP to join our established and supportive team. Whether you are an experienced GP or newly qualified, this is an opportunity to become part of a practice where you will be valued, supported and able to provide high-quality care to your patients.

Main duties of the job
  • Deliver a mix of routine and urgent GP consultations (face-to-face and telephone as clinically appropriate)
  • Manage a broad range of acute and chronic conditions
  • Provide appropriate prescribing, investigations, and referrals
  • Ensure safe and effective clinical decision-making and safety-netting
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records
  • Visit patients in their own homes
  • To be involved in the teaching and training of medical students
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team
  • Participate in clinical meetings and practice development activities

About us
Our practice operates from two locations: Radford Medical Practice and the Student Health Centre at Nottingham Trent University's City campus.

Our GPs are supported by an experienced and friendly multidisciplinary team, including:
  • Clinical Pharmacist
  • Pharmacy Technician
  • First Contact Physiotherapists
  • Mental Health Practitioner
  • Care Coordinators
  • Social Prescriber
  • GP Assistants
  • Experienced nursing and reception teams
  • Experienced Management team

This means you have the support around you to share responsibility, improve patient care and focus on the aspects of general practice you enjoy most.

We also embrace technology to improve patient care and reduce workload, using systems including EMIS Web, Accurx, iGPR, Team Net and GP Automate alongside efficient processes for managing clinical correspondence and documentation.

Job responsibilities
What does a typical day look like?

Our GPs typically see 14 patients in the morning and 14 patients in the afternoon, with a mix of face to face and telephone appointments and dedicated time for administration at the start and end of each session.

We believe this structure allows you to manage your workload effectively while still providing the level of care our patients deserve. You will have time to complete clinical tasks, follow up results and manage your workload within your working day.

We aim to provide a predictable working pattern that allows you to maintain a good work-life balance.

Prescribing in accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines

In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care

Person Specification

Experience
Essential
  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
  • Experience of continued professional development
  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced GP

Desirable
  • Experience of QOF
  • Experience of ICB initiatives
  • General understanding of the GMS contract
  • An interest in Gynaecology
  • Interest in Student Health
  • Interest in Mental Health
  • Interest in sexual health/contraception

Knowledge and Skills
Essential
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Strong IT skills
  • Clear, polite telephone manner
  • Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
  • Effective time management (planning and organising)
  • Ability to work as a team member and autonomously

Desirable
  • Emis user skills

Qualifications
Essential
  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
  • Full GMC Registration
  • NHS Performers List
