About the Role

\n

Monarch Education are working with a secondary school in Taunton who are seeking a reliable Supply Science Teacher to provide cover and support within the Science department from September.

\n

This is a great opportunity for a qualified Science Teacher who is confident delivering engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The role would suit a teacher who can quickly build rapport with pupils, maintain high expectations in the classroom, and deliver pre-planned or planned lessons depending on the needs of the school. You will support pupils in developing their scientific knowledge, curiosity and confidence across biology, chemistry and physics. Supply work may include day-to-day cover, short-term assignments, or longer-term placements.

Key Duties

\n

\n
• Deliver engaging Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
  \n * Teach biology, chemistry and physics in line with the school curriculum
  \n * Follow provided lesson plans or prepare suitable work where required
  \n * Create a positive, focused and inclusive classroom environment
  \n * Support pupils of different abilities to access learning and make progress
  \n * Encourage scientific curiosity, practical enquiry and independent thinking
  \n * Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  \n * Assess, monitor and provide feedback on pupil learning where appropriate
  \n * Work collaboratively with the Science department and wider school staff
  \n * Maintain professional standards and follow school procedures
  \n * Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and report any concerns in line with school policy
  \n * Adapt quickly to the routines and expectations of the school

• Strong subject knowledge across Science
  \n * Confident teaching Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils
  \n * Flexible, reliable and able to adapt to different classroom settings
  \n * Excellent classroom management and communication skills

  \n * Able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
  \n * Calm, consistent and resilient when managing behaviour
  \n * Organised and able to deliver lessons effectively
  \n * Committed to supporting pupil progress and engagement
  \n * Passionate about helping young people develop confidence in Science

Experience & Requirements

\n

\n
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or equivalent teaching qualification
  \n * Experience teaching Science within a UK secondary school setting
  \n * Ability to teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
  \n * Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and GCSE requirements
  \n * Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one
  \n * Right to work in the UK
  \n * Willingness to complete required registration, compliance and safeguarding checks
