Lead Theatre Practitioner
Hendon Hospital
37.5 Hours & Permanent
Salary: Up to 46550.00 per year
(depending on level of experience training and qualification)

Hendon Hospital in London is part of Circle Health Group Britains leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Lead Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in theTheatres department.

This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required tocover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:

  • Lead the delivery of high-quality patient-centred care across the perioperative pathway acting as a specialist or functional lead within the team.
  • Ensure that all patient safety checks including WHO surgical safety processes are carried out in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Maintain clinical credibility by demonstrating best practice supporting others and taking the lead in complex or high-risk situations.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff fostering a culture of professionalism compassion and accountability.
  • Support the development and assessment of competencies within the team promoting continuous professional development.
  • Actively mentor and coach junior staff including students and newly qualified team members.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with significant experience in a theatre environment (e.g. scrub recovery or anaesthetics).
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership experience and ability to act as a role model to peers.
  • Strong understanding of patient safety protocols safeguarding infection control and clinical governance.
  • Scrub Practitioner or Surgical First Assistant qualification for scrub leads.
  • ENB 998 and/or mentorship course.
  • Approved / recognised anaesthetic course.
  • ILS.
  • Excellent communication organisation and mentoring skills.
  • Commitment to personal development and supporting the development of others.
  • Specialist training in a defined clinical area (e.g. orthopaedics robotics cardiac major surgery).
  • Experience in leading audits service improvement projects or clinical teaching.
  • Previous experience working within the independent healthcare sector or multidisciplinary surgical teams.
  • Familiarity with theatre scheduling systems and electronic patient records.
