About the Role
Our team of professional Art Handlers provides a wide range of services including handling installation packing storage and collection care.
We are now looking for experienced Art Handlers to join the team on a Casual basis and support with the install and de-install a range of exhibitions at the Royal Academy ensuring the utmost care of the artwork and building fabric.
About You
The successful candidate will have substantial art handling experience within a commercial gallery or museum or similar institution. Ideally your experience will include the care and handling of both contemporary and historic art works as you will work across all art media.
Excellent written English is key as this role involves extensive documentation for audit purposes health and safety and various written reports related to artwork location and tracking.
You will be a team player and a strong communicator with the ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels across the Royal Academy. Exceptional concentration skills and physical aptitude are also required as part of this role as is a flexible approach to working.
The Company
The RA dates way back to 1768 when a group of artists and architects persuaded King George lll to help them to establish a society for promoting the Artof Design. The original academy in Pall Mall was less than 10 meters long. Since then there have been many changes though the RAs core purpose of bringing art and design to a broad audience and championing art and artists still holds true.
Today we are a contemporary art organisation hosting internationally acclaimed exhibitions and through investment in employee training and development with courses such as Unconscious Bias LGBTQ Awareness Bystander and Mental Health First Aid training we are striving to foster a safe space for everyone through positive action.
