Martin & Company are a prominent accountancy and tax advisory practice with offices based in Winchester Thame and Liss. They have exemplary expertise in the farming and agricultural sector landed estates and private client spaces. Martin & Company joined the Shaw Gibbs Group in April 2024 a growingtop 35 accountancy practice who provide expert solutions for entrepreneurial businesses and private individuals.

We have several offices in Central and Southern England and have ambitious plans to expand our business. To support the organisations growth we have created a new opportunity for a Senior Accounts Manager to join our growingAccounts team. This is a full-time permanent position that will be based in our Winchester office. The role will also offer hybrid (three days in the office and up to two days working at home) and flexible working options (flexing your hours on different days to suit your lifestyle).

The Role
Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Managing a diverse client portfolio that is likely to include a mix of corporate entities LLPs and partnerships.
  • Providing excellent service to your clients; being their point of contact for day-to-day queries.
  • Working across multiple sectors including some with a rural or agricultural focus liaising with partners when required to support your clients.
  • Your responsibilities will include the preparation of accounts corporation and business tax computations with some bookkeeping and VAT.
  • Building long lasting client relationships
  • Using a variety of accounting software packages including Iris Silverfin Caseware Sage and Xero
  • Developing and applying your technical and commercial knowledge
  • Managing your own workload to ensure assignments are completed to a high standard and on time taking some responsibility for billing
  • Supervising training and assisting more junior members of the team
  • Build productive relationships with team members and colleagues at Shaw Gibbs adopting a collaborative working approach

About You
  • Fully qualified (ACA or ACCA preferred) with at least 2 years post-qualified experience.
  • At least 5 years UK post-qualified experience preferably within a medium or large-sized firm.
  • Knowledge of the agricultural sector is highly desirable.
  • Financial Reporting UK GAAP experience.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and client management skills.
  • Able to produce high quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player.
  • Confident positive professional and can-do attitude.
  • Strong IT skills specifically Excel and able to pick up new IT packages very quickly.
  • Create a positive impression with clients and staff.
