Job description
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Counterbalance Forklift Operator to join our warehouse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a counterbalance forklift to move, load, unload, and store goods while maintaining an organized and efficient warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a counterbalance forklift in accordance with company procedures and health and safety regulations.
- Load and unload deliveries from lorries and containers.
- Move stock to designated storage locations.
- Pick, pack, and prepare orders for dispatch when required.
- Carry out daily forklift safety checks and report any defects or maintenance issues.
- Ensure stock is handled carefully to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with stock counts.
- Keep the warehouse clean, tidy, and free from hazards.
- Work collaboratively with warehouse staff to meet daily targets.
Skills and Experience
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (RTITB, ITSSAR, AITT, or equivalent).
- Previous experience operating a counterbalance forklift in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of warehouse health and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Additional forklift licences (Reach, Bendi, or PPT) are an advantage.
- Manual handling experience.
- Credited License

- Safety-focused with a proactive attitude.
- Flexible and willing to assist with general warehouse duties.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Working Conditions:
- Warehouse environment.
- May involve lifting, standing for long periods, and working shifts, including weekends if required.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.
