Ringway Jacobs is seeking a dedicated Traffic Management Operative to join our Cheshire East highways team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in keeping road users, pedestrians and highways workers safe by delivering high-quality temporary traffic management across the Cheshire East network.

Working as part of a professional operational team, you'll be responsible for installing, maintaining and removing traffic management systems that support planned maintenance works, emergency repairs and improvement projects. The Role

As a Traffic Management Operative, you'll support the safe delivery of highway maintenance and infrastructure works across Cheshire East.

Key responsibilities include:

• Installing, maintaining and removing temporary traffic management on highways and local road networks.
• Setting out cones, signs, barriers, frames, sandbags and other traffic management equipment.
• Installing and operating temporary traffic signals, from two-way systems through to multi-phase control setups.
• Carrying out equipment inspections and completing operational checklists to ensure all assets are safe and fit for use.
• Ensuring all traffic management activities comply with relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice.
• Receiving daily briefings and following risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Completing daily records, reports and associated documentation accurately.
• Reporting hazards, near misses, incidents and damaged or missing equipment promptly.
• Working collaboratively with highways teams, contractors and client representatives to support successful project delivery.

About You

We're looking for a reliable and safety-conscious individual with experience in traffic management or highways operations.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous experience working within traffic management, highways maintenance or a related infrastructure environment.
• A valid UK driving licence (HGV Class 2 licence would be advantageous).
• NHSS 12A/12B Traffic Management qualification and practical experience applying temporary traffic management solutions.
• A strong understanding of health, safety and environmental best practices.
• The ability to carry out basic risk assessments and work safely with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills and the confidence to engage professionally with colleagues, clients and members of the public.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high standards of workmanship.
• Basic IT skills and confidence using handheld devices, tablets or mobile technology.
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to support the wider operational team when required.
