Protocol Education is working in partnership with specialist SEN schools and alternative provisions across Sunderland to recruit enthusiastic Psychology Graduates to join their teams this September.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language needs, learning difficulties and complex needs. The role is ideal for graduates considering a future career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Child Mental Health, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy or Teaching. Psychology Graduate TA roles are widely recognised as a valuable stepping stone into these professions.
Role Details
- Full-time position
- September 2026 start
- Monday-Friday
- Working hours between 8:30am-3:30pm and 8:30am-4:30pm
- Term-time only
- Long-term opportunity with potential to become permanent
Your responsibilities
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Helping children regulate emotions and develop social skills
- Supporting learning inside and outside of the classroom
- Working alongside teachers, therapists and SENCOs
- Building positive relationships with pupils and families
- Recording pupil progress and celebrating achievements
- Promoting confidence, independence and engagement
We're looking for
- A Psychology degree (or related subject)
- Passion for SEND and child development
- Excellent communication skills
- Patience, resilience and empathy
- Previous experience with children is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
