Job description

Are you an Occupational Therapy graduate looking to gain valuable experience supporting young people before progressing into Occupational Therapy, further study or a specialist clinical role?

An ambitious and inclusive secondary school in Newcastle is looking for a compassionate and proactive Occupational Therapy Graduate to join its dedicated SEND and Inclusion team this September.

The Role

As an Occupational Therapy Graduate, you will:

  • Support students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Work one-to-one and with small groups to help students access learning
  • Support pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, sensory processing differences, physical disabilities and additional learning needs
  • Help students develop independence, organisation, emotional regulation and life skills
  • Implement strategies recommended by Occupational Therapists and other external professionals
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SEND team and pastoral staff to remove barriers to learning
  • Encourage confidence, resilience and positive engagement throughout the school day

We're Looking For

  • A degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Graduates with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people

  • A proactive approach to supporting independence and wellbeing

Previous experience working with children, young people or individuals with additional needs is desirable but not essential.
