SEN Lecturer – Further Education

Full Time Preferred Part Time Considered

Location: Bromley Borough (bordering Croydon)

Salary: Competitive – MPS/UPS equivalent depending on qualifications and experience

Start date: September 2026

Inspire Young Adults. Transform Futures.

Our client, a well-established specialist further education college located in the London Borough of Bromley, close to the Croydon border, is seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Lecturer to join their committed team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs to achieve meaningful outcomes and prepare for adulthood.

Full-time applicants are preferred; however, outstanding part-time candidates will also be considered.

The Role

As an SEN Lecturer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, personalised learning programmes that enable students to develop academically, socially and independently. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will lead a class of learners while managing Learning Support Assistants and collaborating with therapists and other professionals to ensure every student reaches their full potential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality, differentiated lessons.
  • Assessing, monitoring and recording student progress against EHCP outcomes.
  • Leading and supporting a team of Learning Support Assistants.
  • Working collaboratively with therapists, families and external professionals.
  • Creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Contributing to curriculum development and continuous quality improvement.

About the College

Our client is a highly respected specialist further education college providing exceptional education and support for young adults with special educational needs and disabilities. The college is recognised for its personalised approach, outstanding multidisciplinary support and commitment to preparing learners for greater independence, employment and community participation.

Staff benefit from a collaborative working culture, excellent professional development opportunities and the chance to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people every day.

About the Students

You will be teaching young adults aged 19–25 with a range of complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
  • Communication and interaction needs
  • Physical disabilities
  • Complex medical needs
  • Sensory impairments
  • Students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)

Many learners require highly personalised teaching approaches, communication support, assistive technology and close collaboration with therapy teams.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent).
  • A degree or relevant professional qualification.
  • Experience working with learners with SEND, ideally within further education or specialist settings.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to plan creative, differentiated lessons.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to inclusive education.

Previous experience supporting learners with complex needs, autism or learning disabilities would be highly advantageous.

In Return

  • Competitive salary (MPS/UPS equivalent depending on experience)
  • Full-time permanent opportunity (part-time considered)
  • Ongoing professional development and training
  • Supportive multidisciplinary working environment
  • Opportunity to make a lasting impact on young people's lives
  • Excellent facilities and specialist resources

If you're an enthusiastic SEN professional looking for a rewarding new challenge within a specialist further education environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today through our recruitment agency to find out more about this exceptional opportunity.
