Description

Join Trant Engineering and help deliver complex, high-impact engineering projects.

Trant Engineering is a leading Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor with a proven track record of delivering innovative engineering solutions across the UK and internationally. Employing over 1,000 people and with an annual turnover of £150 million, we continue to grow and are looking for an experienced Electrical Supervisor to join our team, initially based on our clean water treatment works near Hardham in West Sussex.

The Role
As an Electrical Supervisor, you will lead and supervise site-based electrical teams and subcontractors, ensuring that all electrical installation works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Working closely with project managers and mechanical and civil disciplines, you will coordinate day-to-day site activities, monitor progress, and ensure work is completed in line with project programmes, technical specifications, and UK electrical regulations.

You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate site documentation, supporting quality assurance and inspection activities, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring that all electrical works are delivered on time and to the required quality standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

1) Team Supervision & Leadership
  • Supervise electrical operatives, electricians, apprentices, and subcontractors on site.
  • Allocate work based on competence, project priorities, and programme requirements.
  • Monitor productivity, workmanship, and compliance with specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior electrical staff.
2) Electrical Installation & Project Delivery
  • Oversee installation of electrical systems including containment, cabling, control panels, MCCs, motors, pumps, instrumentation interfaces, and power supplies.
  • Ensure electrical works comply with design drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Coordinate electrical activities with civil, mechanical, and process teams.
  • Support electrical testing, inspection, and commissioning activities.
3) Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
  • Enforce site health, safety, and environmental procedures in line with UK legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments, and method statement briefings.
  • Ensure safe isolation, lock-off, and permit-to-work procedures are followed.
  • Investigate and report incidents, near-misses, and unsafe practices.
4) Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure electrical installations meet BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and project standards.
  • Inspect completed works and ensure defects are rectified promptly.
  • Support FAT/SAT, ITPs, and QA/QC processes.
  • Ensure compliance with client, regulatory, and water industry standards.
5) Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, workforce attendance, and materials used.
  • Review and sign off electrical test results, inspection records, and commissioning documentation.
  • Assist in preparing progress reports, as-built records, and handover documentation.
  • Ensure electrical documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant.
6) Communication & Coordination
  • Liaise with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Site Mangers and Client representatives.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of works.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and resource requirements effectively.
7) Core Values
  • Uphold and promote the Company’s Core Values – Care, Trust, Respect and Sustainability.
