Job description
Full time Term time only Clinical Psychologist based on the outskirts of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our Emotional Wellbeing Team, supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across our specialist education provisions in Cheltenham, Hereford, Worcester and South Wales. This is an exciting opportunity to provide specialist psychological expertise within a SEND Further Education setting, helping learners to achieve their educational, emotional and social potential. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, families and external professionals, you will deliver psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based interventions that promote wellbeing, resilience and engagement in learning. The successful candidate will play an important role in developing psychologically informed and trauma-informed practices across the organisation. They will provide consultation and guidance to staff, contribute to EHCP processes and support plans, deliver training, and help create safe, inclusive environments that enable learners to thrive and prepare successfully for adulthood. Applicants must hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent recognised qualification) and be registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist. They will have experience of working with children and young people with SEND, including autism, learning disabilities and complex needs, together with experience of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention. A strong understanding of mental health, neurodevelopmental conditions, trauma and safeguarding is essential, along with excellent communication, consultation and report‑writing skills. Experience within educational settings, involvement in EHCP processes, and additional training in therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT or trauma-informed practice would be advantageous. We are looking for a compassionate, resilient and reflective practitioner who is committed to inclusion, equality and delivering high-quality psychological support. In return, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to learners’ lives while contributing to the continued development of wellbeing and SEND services across the organisation. Contract Type: Permanent | Contract: Full time Term time only (44 hours / 39 weeks)| Salary: Dependant on experience | Location Status: On Site (Ullenwood) with travel to other sites as required | Interview Date: TBC | Closing Date: 06/08/2026 J-18808-Ljbffr
