Family Solicitor

Eventus Legal Recruitment is seeking a Family Solicitor to join a highly regarded family law team based in Guildford, Surrey. This is a full time, permanent opportunity offering a salary of £50,000 to £65,000 depending on experience, hybrid working with one day remotely working from home following probation, flexible start and finish times, a performance related bonus scheme and an excellent range of additional benefits such as 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), gym allowance, health schemes, and life assurance.

This Family Solicitor job in Guildford, Surrey would suit a qualified solicitor with at least 2 years PQE and strong experience in privately funded family law. Applications are welcomed from candidates with around 2 to 8 years PQE, particularly those who have experience advising on the financial aspects of divorce and separation. The successful Family Solicitor will join a small and experienced team led by established partners. The team handles high quality privately funded work and places greater importance on providing thoughtful, technically strong advice than on managing a high volume of cases.

Role Responsibilities

The successful Family Solicitor will be based in Guildford, Surrey and manage a varied caseload of privately funded family law matters, with a particular emphasis on financial remedy work. Cases will typically involve mid to high value assets, with some matters involving assets valued at up to approximately £5 million.

Duties will include the following:

• Managing your own caseload of privately funded family law matters
• Advising clients on divorce, dissolution and separation
• Handling financial remedy negotiations and court proceedings
• Advising on financial disclosure and preparing Forms E
• Advising on cases involving property, savings, investments, pensions, maintenance and business interests
• Preparing financial statements, schedules of assets and supporting documentation
• Drafting applications, consent orders, correspondence and settlement proposals
• Working with barristers, financial experts, pension experts and other professional advisers where required
• Advising on pre-nuptial agreements, post-nuptial agreements, and separation agreements where appropriate
• Supporting clients through negotiations, mediation and other forms of dispute resolution
• Representing clients throughout court proceedings and preparing cases for hearings
• Providing clear, practical and realistic advice to clients facing difficult or stressful personal circumstances
• Working closely with the partners and other members of the family law team in Guildford, Surrey
• Attending selected networking and business development events
• Contributing to the continued development and reputation of the family law department

Person Specification

The successful Family Solicitor will be based in Guildford, Surrey and have the following skills and attributes:

• Qualified Solicitor with at least 2 years PQE in family law
• Experience managing privately funded family law matters
• Strong experience in financial remedy cases
• The ability to advise on cases involving substantial or complex assets
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and client care skills
• Grounded and factual communication style
• The ability to explain complex legal and financial issues clearly
• Practical and commercially aware approach to resolving disputes
• Empathy and sensitivity when supporting clients during difficult circumstances
• The confidence to work independently while remaining a collaborative team member
