Service Manager - Domestic Abuse Community Team

Location: Monmouthshire & Newport

Salary: £28,683 per annum

Hours: 35 hours per week (flexibility required to meet the needs of the service)

Lead a service that helps families live safely and independently.

We're looking for an experienced and compassionate Service Manager to lead a dedicated community-based domestic abuse service supporting families across Monmouthshire and Newport.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys leading people, maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring vulnerable families receive safe, effective and person-centred support.

You'll oversee the day-to-day operation of the service, providing leadership to a team of Support Workers while ensuring the service consistently meets contractual, safeguarding and quality requirements.

The Role

As Service Manager, you'll be responsible for the operational management of the service, ensuring staff are well supported and services are delivered to the highest standard.

You'll provide regular supervision, guidance and reflective practice to your team, oversee performance, manage staffing matters including annual leave, sickness and induction, and ensure colleagues have the training and support needed to succeed.

Alongside leading the team, you'll monitor service performance, oversee caseload management and ensure robust safeguarding, risk assessment and safety planning processes are embedded throughout the service. You'll regularly audit case files, monitor outcomes and ensure accurate reporting is completed in line with funding and contractual requirements.

Working collaboratively with statutory and voluntary sector partners, you'll help maintain strong referral pathways and promote joined-up support for families affected by domestic abuse, while contributing to awareness-raising and trauma-informed practice across the wider service.

About You

We're looking for someone who can confidently balance people leadership with operational oversight.

You'll bring:

  • At least two year's experience working within a relevant sector.
  • Experience leading, motivating and supporting staff.
  • A sound understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on families.
  • Knowledge of psychologically informed and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Experience of safeguarding, risk management and complex decision-making.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with partner agencies and coordinate effective referrals.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Teams and Outlook.
  • A professional approach with clear boundaries and a commitment to continuous service improvement.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Leading and developing a team of Support Workers.
  • Maintaining high standards of service delivery and quality assurance.
  • Ensuring safeguarding and risk management processes are robust and effective.
  • Monitoring service performance against contractual requirements.
  • Completing case audits and overseeing accurate record keeping.
  • Managing budgets, finance processes and service reporting.
  • Building effective relationships with partner agencies across Monmouthshire and Newport.
  • Promoting psychologically informed, trauma-informed practice throughout the service.

In Return

  • Salary of £28,683 per annum
  • 35-hour working week
  • 25 days annual leave, increasing with service
  • Enhanced employer pension following probation
  • Ongoing training, reflective practice and professional development
  • Opportunity to participate in a Tier 2 on-call rota and play a key role in shaping a vital community service.

If you're an experienced manager who is passionate about supporting people, developing teams and delivering high-quality services, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and help lead a service that makes a lasting difference to families across Monmouthshire and Newport.
