Job description
A leading independent school in Brighton is looking for a talented and enthusiastic English Teacher to join its welcoming and high-performing community. The Role The school is seeking an English Teacher who can inspire a love of language and literature, while helping students develop the confidence to express themselves clearly and thoughtfully. You will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 for the right candidate. Whether exploring classic texts, developing analytical writing, or encouraging lively classroom discussion, you will play an important part in helping students grow as readers, writers, and thinkers. This role would suit someone who brings energy to the classroom, values strong relationships with students, and enjoys making English meaningful and engaging. What You’ll Be Doing Teaching English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 available depending on experience Planning engaging lessons that challenge, support, and inspire students Helping pupils prepare confidently for assessments and examinations Encouraging a love of reading, writing, and discussion Giving clear feedback that helps students make progress Tracking attainment and adapting teaching where needed Contributing to curriculum development within the English department Supporting enrichment activities such as reading clubs, drama, debating, or creative writing Playing an active role in the wider life of the school, including pastoral care and extracurricular opportunities About the School This independent school in Brighton is known for its warm atmosphere, strong sense of community, and excellent facilities.
