Occupational Therapy Assistants - Prevention & Early Intervention

\n

Location: Walsall Council

\n

Rate: £23.35 Umbrella

\n

Working Pattern: Hybrid - community-based visits, clinic assessments 1x day per week and 1x office day per week

\n

Duration: 2 months with potential to be extended

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join Walsall Council's Prevention & Early Intervention service. You will play a key role in supporting adults (aged 18+) with physical disabilities that impact functional ability, using a person-centred, strength-based approach to promote independence, wellbeing, and meaningful engagement in daily life. The focus of this role is to reduce risks (including falls), prevent escalation, and avoid outcomes such as hospital admissions, formal care packages, and functional decline. Working autonomously within a supportive team, you will manage a diverse and complex caseload, delivering high-quality Occupational Therapy interventions across the community.

Key Responsibilities

\n

- Provide high-quality Occupational Therapy assessments with a clear person-centred and strength-based focus

\n

- Use strong clinical knowledge of physical health conditions to guide assessment and intervention

\n

- Manage and prioritise a varied caseload independently, with access to supervision where needed

\n

- Assess for and arrange minor equipment, minor works, and major adaptations (including Disabled Facilities Grants)

\n

- Contribute to rehousing reports and provide effective signposting to appropriate services

\n

- Maintain clear, timely, and comprehensive documentation

\n

- Work collaboratively with individuals, carers, and multidisciplinary colleagues

\n

- Apply a strong understanding of safeguarding and the Care Act We are seeking a proactive and collaborative team player who:

Essential / Desirable Requirements:

\n

- Experience in Adult Health and Social Care - Enhanced DBS (Adults)

\n

- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

\n

- Previous community social care Occupational Therapy experience highly desirable

\n
