Job description
Premises Manager – Secondary School – Milton Keynes Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale A successful secondary school in Milton Keynes is looking to appoint an experienced and proactive Premises Manager to lead the day-to-day management of the school site. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong facilities management experience who enjoys leading a team, maintaining high standards and ensuring the school provides a safe, secure and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. Working closely with the School Business Manager and Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee the maintenance, compliance and operational management of the school's buildings and grounds. You will lead the premises team while coordinating contractors, managing maintenance projects and ensuring statutory compliance across the site. This is a varied leadership role that offers the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the smooth operation of a thriving secondary school. Premises Team The Premises Team plays a vital role in ensuring the school site remains safe, compliant and fully operational throughout the year. As Premises Manager, you will lead the team while managing planned maintenance, health and safety compliance and future site development projects. Your responsibilities will include: Leading and managing the premises team. Overseeing planned and reactive maintenance programmes. Managing external contractors and service providers. Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation. Coordinating statutory inspections and servicing schedules. Monitoring fire safety and emergency procedures. Managing premises budgets and obtaining quotations. Supporting school lettings and community use of the facilities. Maintaining compliance records and site documentation. Planning future maintenance and refurbishment projects. Monitoring security systems and site access arrangements. Ensuring the school environment remains safe, clean and welcoming at all times. The successful candidate will become an integral member of the operational leadership team, helping to ensure the school continues to provide an outstanding environment for teaching and learning. Requirements Previous premises or facilities management experience. Experience leading a team. Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation. Good practical maintenance knowledge. Excellent organisational and leadership skills. Ability to manage contractors and budgets. Strong communication skills. Professional and proactive approach. Commitment to safeguarding.
