M Group Rail & Aviation - when it comes to rail, we deliver a variety of enhancement and infrastructure projects across all routes, both overground and underground.

What will you be doing?
As a
Quantity Surveyor
you will support the delivery of a long-term
rail maintenance framework , secured for the next
8 years . This is a fast‑paced, commercially focused role responsible for pricing individual works orders issued under our framework agreement.
All works are
single‑sourced
and non‑competitive, allowing the Estimator to focus on accuracy, compliance and value rather than bid positioning.
You will be pricing works using a
CESMM Schedule of Rates , with individual work orders typically ranging in value from
£500 to £1m .
Prepare accurate and timely estimates for individual works orders issued under the rail maintenance framework
Price remits using the
CESMM Method of Measurement
and the framework Schedule of Rates
Interpret scopes, drawings, specifications and site information to build robust cost submissions
Work closely with delivery, commercial and operational teams to clarify scope and methodology
Ensure estimates are compliant with
NEC contract requirements
Maintain pricing records, assumptions and supporting documentation
Support the continuous improvement of estimating processes within a high‑volume work order environment
What you will bring
Proven experience in an
Estimator
role within rail, infrastructure or civil engineering
Strong working knowledge of CESMM
(essential)
Experience with NEC contracts
(NEC3 / NEC4 desirable)
Comfortable working in a
high‑paced environment , pricing multiple work orders concurrently
Ability to price works across a wide value range (£500–£1m)
Strong attention to detail with a commercial, pragmatic mindset
Confident communicator, able to engage with technical and commercial stakeholders
Desirable
Experience working within a framework environment
Rail maintenance or renewals background
Knowledge of Network Rail standards and processes
