Job description

We're working with a welcoming secondary school in South Bristol that is looking to appoint two Learning Support Assistants to join its inclusion team from September.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a genuine difference to students' confidence, wellbeing and progress in school.

The school is looking for caring, patient and adaptable individuals who can build positive relationships and support students to overcome barriers to learning.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider inclusion team to help students engage with learning and feel successful in school.

Some students may require support within lessons, while others may benefit from small-group interventions or individual mentoring sessions focused on confidence, emotional wellbeing and personal development.

No two days are quite the same, but every day offers the opportunity to have a positive impact.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting students in lessons to access learning and remain engaged
  • Breaking down tasks and adapting support to suit individual needs
  • Delivering literacy and numeracy interventions in small groups or on a 1:1 basis
  • Building confidence, resilience and independence
  • Supporting students with emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement with learning
  • Working collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams

Why This Role Stands Out

⭐ Permanent opportunity within a supportive secondary school

⭐ Join an experienced and welcoming inclusion team

⭐ Gain valuable experience for careers in teaching, psychology, counselling, youth work or SEND

⭐ Make a genuine difference to young people's educational journeys

⭐ Ongoing training and professional development available

We're Looking For Someone Who Is

  • Patient, calm and approachable
  • Passionate about supporting young people
  • A strong communicator who can build trust and rapport
  • Resilient and adaptable
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experienced working with children or young people, although this is not essential

Working Hours

  • 30 hours per week
  • Term time only, plus inset days
  • Monday to Friday
  • September 2026 start

Why Join Protocol Education?

  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies
  • FREE access to our CPD Academy
  • Personalised support from a dedicated consultant
  • Opportunities across mainstream, SEND and alternative provision settings
  • Streamlined registration process
  • £50 refer-a-friend bonus

If you're looking for a rewarding role where you can help young people build confidence, develop resilience and achieve their potential, we'd love to hear from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
