Religious Studies Teacher (SEMH Provision)

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time, temporary or permanent positions available

Location: Luton, LU1

Salary: M1-M6, dependent on experience

We are seeking an enthusiastic, resilient, and compassionate Religious Studies Teacher to join our small specialist provision for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs from September 202, currently have 6-10 students on roll.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people who require a nurturing, supportive, and highly personalised approach to education. Our small class sizes, strong pastoral support, and collaborative team enable staff to build meaningful relationships and help students achieve both academically and personally.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach Humanities subjects (History, Geography, and/or Religious Studies) across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet a wide range of learning and emotional needs.
  • Foster positive relationships that support student engagement, attendance, and achievement.
  • Contribute to the development of an inclusive and therapeutic learning environment.
  • Work closely with pastoral staff, families, external agencies, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Support students in developing confidence, resilience, and readiness for adulthood.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching Humanities at secondary level.
  • Understands, or is willing to develop expertise in, SEMH and trauma-informed practice.
  • Demonstrates excellent classroom management and relationship-building skills.
  • Has high expectations for all learners and a commitment to inclusion.
  • Is adaptable, patient, and passionate about helping vulnerable young people succeed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
