You're invited to apply for a Consultant Geriatrician role within our forward thinking Care of Older People (COOP) team. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join a vibrant, supportive department of 17 consultants who are passionate about delivering high quality care and driving innovation for our older population.

You'll step into a multidisciplinary environment where your ideas, clinical interests, and ambitions are genuinely valued. Whether you're preparing for your CCT or you already bring extensive consultant experience, we'll shape the role around your strengths, your goals, and the way you want to work. Flexible arrangements, including job sharing, are available to support your work-life balance.

As Somerset's older population continues to grow, you'll have the chance to make a real, lasting difference to the communities we serve. If you're motivated by high impact clinical work and enjoy being part of a collaborative, progressive team, we'd be delighted to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist geriatric care in inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Contribute to acute/frailty take and 7-day working
  • Lead on clinical governance, quality improvement, and teaching
  • Mentor junior doctors and multidisciplinary teams
  • Develop sub-specialty interests (e.g., frailty, dementia, movement disorders, surgical liaison, stroke)

Why Join Us?

We are proud to foster a diverse, skilled, and inclusive workforce, and we encourage applications from all backgrounds.

Why Somerset? Somerset offers the perfect blend of idyllic countryside, outstanding areas of natural beauty, and breathtaking coastlines, with vibrant cities like Bristol, Bath, and Exeter just a short drive away - and only two hours to London.
