Graduate Teaching Assistant - Leek

Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity | September 2026 Start

Salary: £500–£560 per week (£100–£115 per day)

Are you a graduate with a 2:1 degree or above and looking to launch a rewarding career in education?

Whether you're aspiring to become a teacher, educational psychologist, SEN specialist, or another education professional, this Graduate Teaching Assistant opportunity provides the perfect first step.

A welcoming and supportive primary school in Leek (ST13) is looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

Working alongside experienced teachers and school leaders, you'll gain invaluable classroom experience, develop essential teaching skills, and build the confidence needed to progress into teacher training or a range of child-focused professions.

What's On Offer?

  • Full-time role (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm)
  • Term-time only
  • Long-term opportunity with excellent career development prospects
  • Weekly pay of £500–£560
  • Ongoing mentoring from experienced teachers and senior leaders
  • Hands-on classroom experience across a broad curriculum
  • Opportunities to deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions
  • Outstanding preparation for PGCE, School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT), Schools Direct and other teacher training routes
  • Supportive school with a collaborative and welcoming culture
  • Convenient Leek (ST13) location

What You'll Be Doing

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons across the curriculum.
  • Deliver targeted literacy, numeracy and subject-specific interventions to individuals and small groups.
  • Provide personalised 1:1 support for pupils who require additional guidance.
  • Support pupils with SEND, helping to remove barriers to learning and maximise progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour, confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Assist with lesson preparation, classroom organisation and learning resources.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents to support outstanding outcomes.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and inspiring learning environment where every child can thrive.

What We're Looking For

To be considered for this opportunity, you'll need:

  • A 2:1 degree or above (or be predicted to achieve one).
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, proactive and professional attitude.
  • The enthusiasm to learn from experienced educators.
  • An ambition to pursue a long-term career within education.
  • The right to work in the UK - Full Time

Previous experience working with children is beneficial but not essential - we're looking for graduates with the motivation, commitment and potential to make a real impact in the classroom.

Start Your Career in Education

If you're an ambitious graduate with a 2:1 degree or above who is ready to gain exceptional classroom experience before progressing into teaching or another education-based profession, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today to secure your Graduate Teaching Assistant position for September 2026.
