Senior Theatre Practitioner Scrub Cardiac Thoracic

Bupa Cromwell Hospital - SW5 0TU (5 mins walk from Earls Court underground or 7 mins walk from Gloucester Road underground.)

Salary: 46195 to 54700 per annum plus fantastic benefits

Full time:37.5 hours p/w Monday to Saturday plus additional shift enhancements for weekend working - various shift patterns available

We have 6 operating suites catering for Cardiac Orthopaedics ENT and OphthalmicDa Vinci Surgery Thoracic and Liver Plastics General/Vascular Urology and Gynaecology. We work with surgeons who are the best in their specialities carrying out simple to the more complex surgeries.

How youll help us make health happen:

You will be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team and to participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care.

• Assist in the positioning and preparation of a patient as directed by the surgical team and ensure that any specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to the laboratory
• Help to control cross infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress the maintenance of a clean working environment decontamination and sterilisation procedures and asepsis.
• Participate in induction and orientation programmes for new staff to ensure a welcoming environment.
• Assist the team leaders in the Personal Development Plans of junior staff
• Prepare patients for clinical/ operative procedures both in anaesthetics and surgery.
• Provide assistance in clinical/ operative procedures both anaesthetics and surgery.
• Provide immediate post-operative care.
• Provide initial emergency care as required
• Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner ensuring patient visitors and staff safety.
• Ensure all equipment is checked prior to use and any faults reported to the Theatre Co-ordinator
• Participate fully as a team member including working in all areas of the theatre suite sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

• RN 1ST level Registration Adult and/or Children-
• HCPC OR NMC registered
• Minimum of 5 years Scrub Cardiac Thoracic experience
• Diploma or Degree in Health Care Studies
• ODP Level 3 NVQ
• ODA 752
