Job description

Graduate Analyst

Are you a recent science graduate looking to kick-start your career in a world-leading laboratory?

Intertek is looking for enthusiastic and ambitious Graduate Analysts to join our growing laboratories in Melbourn, Cambridgeshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who have completed a placement year, industrial internship or have gained equivalent laboratory experience during their studies.

Working alongside experienced scientists, you'll receive hands-on training, develop a broad range of analytical techniques and build a rewarding career supporting the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

If you're curious, motivated and passionate about science, we'd love to hear from you.

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for someone who enjoys practical laboratory work, has a keen eye for detail and is excited to continue learning in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Required skills and experience:

  • A degree (BSc or MSc) in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biology or another relevant scientific discipline
  • A placement year, industrial internship or equivalent practical laboratory experience gained during your degree
  • Strong laboratory skills and an interest in analytical techniques
  • Good numerical and data interpretation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your workload effectively
  • A positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
  • IT literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office applications

Experience of working within a regulated laboratory environment, or knowledge of GMP and laboratory safety procedures, would be advantageous but is not essential.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Graduate Analyst, you'll become an integral member of our laboratory team, supporting the preparation and analysis of samples using a variety of analytical techniques.

From day one, you'll receive structured training and mentoring from experienced colleagues while developing the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to build a successful scientific career.

This role offers exposure to a wide range of laboratory techniques, client projects and opportunities for career progression within one of the world's leading testing, inspection and certification companies.

Key activities:

  • Preparing and analysing samples using a range of analytical techniques
  • Following validated laboratory methods and standard operating procedures
  • Recording, reviewing and reporting analytical data accurately
  • Supporting investigations and basic interpretation of scientific results under supervision
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring a safe, organised working environment
  • Working in accordance with quality standards, health and safety procedures and company policies
  • Collaborating with colleagues to deliver high-quality results for clients
  • Continuously developing your technical knowledge through training and practical experience
