Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the newly created Procurement and Supply Chain department here at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Reporting at executive level, you will provide professional leadership, delivering a strategy and business plan aligned to the Trust's 2025-2030 ambitions. You will drive the transformation of a new operating model, embedding strategic procurement, contract and supplier relationship management excellence, while working with Partners Procurement Services.

The role will focus on delivering Better Value savings, developing a resilient and innovative service, and implementing Inventory Management and Scan for Safety to improve patient care and operational performance.

Main duties of the job

  • Continue to lead the transformation of procurement, ensuring the newly implemented procurement operating model delivers the expected benefits of increased savings, enhanced operational efficiency, greater compliance with SFIs and procurement legislation, and improved customer satisfaction with the procurement service.
  • Continue to transform procurement from a reactive to a proactive and strategic function, ensuring an accurate contract register and a category management approach to spend.
  • Champion and promote contract management best practices, acting as senior sponsor of the Contract Management Centre of Excellence and community of practice.
  • Act as senior sponsor for the implementation of the Inventory Management System (IMS), which is ongoing and due for completion in June 2027.
  • Evaluate, assess, and make recommendations at Trust board meetings, and sub committees of the board, whereby the Procurement Director will be required to advise and influence Board and Executive team members in relation to various compliance and governance issues as required.
  • Ensure compliance with governance requirements for approval of contracts above £2.5M
  • Lead a team of procurement specialists, establishing a proactive and strategic procurement function recognised across the Trust for its expertise and added value.
  • Drive value for money through effective competition and robust compliance with procurement legislation and regulatory requirements.
