Job description

We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner to join a dedicated team committed to making a positive impact on pupils' lives.

In this rewarding role, you will work closely with students, families, school staff, and external agencies to provide early intervention, emotional support, and practical strategies that help children overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

About the Role
As an Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner, you will play a key role in promoting positive mental health across the school community. You will provide one-to-one and group interventions, help identify pupils who may require additional support, and contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child feels valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-to-one and small group emotional wellbeing interventions.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
  • Support pupils experiencing anxiety, low mood, emotional distress, or other wellbeing challenges.
  • Develop personalised support plans and monitor progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, parents/carers, and external professionals.
  • Signpost and refer pupils to specialist services where appropriate.
  • Promote resilience, emotional literacy, self-esteem, and positive coping strategies.
  • Contribute to whole-school wellbeing initiatives and awareness programmes.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with safeguarding and GDPR requirements.
  • Actively promote safeguarding and the welfare of all children and young people.


Desirable Qualifications

  • Qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Mental Health, Child Development, Youth Work, Social Care, or a related field.
  • Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) qualification.
  • Registration or accreditation with a relevant professional body (where applicable).
  • Experience delivering evidence-based interventions within schools or community services.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Spencer Clarke Group work with a variety of schools covering a wide geographical area. We deal with teaching placements at Primary, Secondary, Special Education needs and college level as well as support staff positions also within these.
