Locations: Skelmersdale & Chorley
Start Date: September 2026
Full-Time | Monday–Friday

About the Role

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning & Behaviour Support Practitioners to work across a range of primary and secondary schools in Skelmersdale and Chorley from September.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
  • Help create a safe, positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management and social development.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and participation in learning activities.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and SENCOs to implement individual support strategies.
  • Support pupils both within the classroom and in alternative learning environments where required.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
  • Relevant education, care, support work, youth work or coaching experience is highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
